Reviewing the Options

Sometimes even well-thought out plans don’t yield the desired results. Not getting into the college of the student’s dreams is not the end of the road; s/he just may have to take another path to get there.  Here are some options according to a recent Newsday College Prep Talk article.
  1. Locate schools with openings at www.nacanet.org (National Assn. for College Admissions Counseling)
  2. Ask for feedback from the schools where you wanted to go.  Ask how you can strengthen your application to re-apply.
  3. Attend a community college.  Find out what courses will transfer before you take them.
  4. Take a gap year by volunteering or attending an educational program abroad.  Do your research to ensure that this is a good fit for you and your family.
