Reviewing the Options
Sometimes even well-thought out plans don’t yield the desired results. Not getting into the college of the student’s dreams is not the end of the road; s/he just may have to take another path to get there. Here are some options according to a recent
Newsday College Prep Talk article.
- Locate schools with openings at www.nacanet.org (National Assn. for College Admissions Counseling)
- Ask for feedback from the schools where you wanted to go. Ask how you can strengthen your application to re-apply.
- Attend a community college. Find out what courses will transfer before you take them.
- Take a gap year by volunteering or attending an educational program abroad. Do your research to ensure that this is a good fit for you and your family.
